Doris Kelson´s roots date back to Poland, where her jewish grandparents were born. Scaping from the Nazi´s regime in 1939, the family left Berlim with a blessed passport to Rio de janeiro, where they settled down. Doris Kelson was born there in 1952.
Her view and work was shaped by feelings of belonging and not belonging; clay was the best material to anchor and express her art.
For almost 30 years, she has dedicated herself to the art of ceramic. Doris has an Atelier where she teaches and runs a showroom.
Firing her work in an electric kiln she also travels every year to Curamilla Art Center, Chile, to share with other artists the magic of firing in a wood kiln.
Doris feels rewarded by orchestrating a dance between the certainties and the inevitable mysteries of working with clay.
